FAQ

Common Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most from aspiring pharmacy owners.

Timelines vary depending on your preparedness and the specific county, but a typical full setup takes between 3 to 6 months. The PPB licensing process alone can take 4 to 8 weeks. With the Full Bridge, we help you run processes in parallel to reduce the overall timeline as much as possible.

Yes. Pharmacy is a professional practice in Kenya, and the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) together with the Business Registration Service require that a pharmacy be owned or co-owned by a registered pharmacy professional, either a pharmacist or a pharmaceutical technologist. If you are not a pharmacy professional yourself, you must partner with one who will serve as a director in the company, and this must be reflected in the business registration documents. See The Qualified Person above for the two routes we offer, Professional Placement and Resident Directorship, or register your own licence on the Afiacity Network if you are the professional partner others are looking for.

Startup capital depends on factors like location, size, and initial stock. In Nairobi, most new pharmacies require between KES 1.5 million and KES 5 million to get started, covering licensing fees, rent deposits, initial stock, shop fitting, and working capital. Our own service fees are published above and are separate from this capital estimate. During the free consultation, we help you estimate a realistic budget for your specific situation.

The Pharmacy and Poisons Board requires several things: a suitable premises that meets their specifications (minimum size, ventilation, storage), a registered superintendent pharmacist or pharmaceutical technologist, proper record-keeping systems, and compliance with Good Distribution Practice. The premises must pass a PPB inspection before you can open. Our PPB Licensing & Inspection service above walks you through every requirement.

Absolutely. The Retainer is designed for existing pharmacy owners who want ongoing expert support, and Stock Take & Verification is built for owners who cannot be on-site every day. Whether you need help with compliance, stock accuracy, or connecting with vetted auditors, we provide support tailored to your pharmacy's needs.

We publish our prices, and most consultancies don't. Setup starts from Ksh 35,000, everything is itemised on this page, statutory fees (BRS, PPB) are billed at cost, and payments are milestone-based, so you never pay for work that hasn't been done.

No obligations, no pressure, just honest advice from people who know the industry.
